It started with our grandmother's shoes.

Swollen, hard-to-fit feet run through three generations of our family: our grandparents and their brothers and sisters, our aunties, our mother. So we've seen the daily struggle, up close.

Our grandmother's feet swelled through the day. A shoe that fitted in the morning was a struggle by the afternoon, and putting her shoes on had become a hard part of every day.

We tried everything we could think of. None of it fixed the real problem, which was the shoe. The shoes made for feet like hers didn't look good, and they didn't adjust. Once a shoe was on, it was one size all day, even though her feet weren't.
